Initial consultation
On the first visit to the clinic you will be given some forms to complete before you see your Chiropractor. During the initial consultation your Chiropractor will take your case history including any medical details.
You will then have a physical examination. Gowns are provided and you are asked to change down to your underwear and to put on a gown if you are comfortable to do so. You Chiropractor will then report and explain the findings and start treatment if appropriate.
Treatment
Treatment may involve specific manipulation and adjusting of problem areas, to improve function and decrease pain. Your Chiropractor may also use massage, ice, myofascial dry needling, stretching techniques and home exercise as part of your treatment.
Treatment sessions last between 15 and 30 minutes depending on the treatments needed. Your progress will be assessed each visit to decide the optimal time between treatments.
How will I feel after treatment?
Responses to treatment vary from person to person. It is possible that whilst you may feel better straight away, it is not unusual to experience some soreness for a day or two after treatment. Some people feel tired and it is worth planning to take things easy initially.
As your symptoms decrease with the course of treatment and the function of your spine improves you may like to consider having regular check-ups to maintain your progress.
